My daughter is 2 months old, switched formula 3 x, currently on similac sensitive, on zantac TID…I was wondering if anyone had any luck switching to nutramigen or alimentum for their baby’s reflux even though they do not have a milk protein allergy? I am at my wits end with this, and that is the only thing I haven’t tried. We are seeing the GI next week, think I should hold out till then?
That was a very interesting and informative post. Most pediatricians must diagnose an MPSI based on blood in the stool, when that is NOT the only symptom. I have armed myself with this knowledge for when I take my daughter to the GI next week. I really hope that they can help her…at least more than the pediatrician.
We have tried every formula. My daughter has severe GERD that required a fundoplication. She has a MicKey button and has been on Zantac and Prilosec. We are currently on Neocate and have been on this elemental formula since November 2011. Honestly I dont notice too much of a difference. She does not seem to like the taste at all when bottle fed. She was never diagnosed with a food allergy. She is 8 months old and I still have to take all of the reflux precautions…elevation, thickening when she bottle feeds etc. What I have noticed is that she has kept congestion and has increased mucus production. She is able to get the mucus up but it sometimes through the night she coughs and gags a bit. Also since being on this formula she had runny stools. She still spits up and has reflux even with fundo. Today I tried soy formula and so far she really liked the taste and has not had any respiratory reaction. She has never been the norm on really anything, LOL! We will wait a few days and see.
