Hi. I’m new to this forum but looking for help. I have a 4 1/2 month old who has been diagnosed with allergic colitis, acid reflux and colic (which means nothing). He takes Neocate and is currently on Nexium and Pepcid. He takes one packet of Nexium in the morning..I believe the packet is 10 mg but the gastro said something about that being 8 mg. At night, we give him 1 ml of Pepcid. We used to be on Prevacid, 15 mg once a day and the Pepcid, but, because of the shortage of generic Prevacid, the doc switched us to Nexium.
These meds help a little but I think my son still has a problem. He fusses most of the day, takes forever to eat, hands always in his mouth, drools an incredible amount, etc. I don’t think the gastro takes me seriously because he is gaining weight and height at a crazy rate and sleeps through the night.
Since we switched to Nexium, he is waking up earlier, more restless at night, spitting up more, and seeming a little fussier. I feel like the gastro is giving me the sort of dosage that doesn’t really do anything but is just some kind of insulting attempt to placate me. I base that off the dosing I’ve seen on the information forum.
We upped his Pepcid to 1.5 ml last night but it looks like even that is a miniscule amount. Are these just like placebo dosages? Should I increase dosages on my own?
I’ve been to this gastro and another and they both just kind of shined me on. This one keeps saying “I wish you wouldn’t worry so much, I wish you would accept it will get better.” Well, that’s great, maybe it WILL but for now I’m just kind of not okay with my baby being in pain.
Any advice?
