hello all,
My twins were born at 32weeks Dec 2, 2011
Baby A weighed 4 pounds ( 2/10 weight was 8 pounds 5 ounces ) spent 33 days in Nicu. During NIcU stay he was diagnosed with acid refulx and placed on 1.4 ml of prevacid ( pharmacy compounded) once a day and home doing great.
Baby B ( my gerdling) weighed 3 pounds 15 ounces ( 2/10 weighed 6 pounds 1 ounce) He was diagnosed with Gerd which was causing severe apena. He was placed on prevacid ( 1.4ml once a day) which helped but the gerd was still severe and causing apnea. Reglan(.03ml 3times a day) and caffiene (0.65ml once a day) were added. They seemed to help but I was told the fact was he had GERD. He was discharged 2/8 still on mentioned meds, tucker sling ( contraption to keep him at an angle in the crib), home suction machine and an apena monitor. He is alternating enfacare mixed to 27 calories and 1tsp of beechnut rice per 30 ml ( he eats about 65) and breastmilk with 1tsp of enfacare and 2 tsp of rice cereal. At home he was not eating and crying from pain IMO, 2/9 more crying, not eating and diarrhea. doctor appt 2/10 more crying and diarrhea( 3x at dr appt). funny thing he actually ate 2 ounce at the doctors office. Doctor thought it was a virus so my baby was admitted. Forgot to mention he had lots of spit ups while in nicu hence dx of gerd. At the hosptial on 2/10 he drank 2 ounces of formula spit of 1 ounce and the crying continued. The doctor to a stool sample and ruled out a virus, an ultrasound ruled out pyloric disorder. They are talking about discharge 2/11 but I know my baby is suffering.
Please help with advice on what I can do get my baby boy some kind of relief. It is breaking my heart watching him suffer.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read my post

He is still having reflux with pain periodically. He gained 3 oUnces while in the hospital. Am I suppose to just let reflux take its course ?? He still has periods where hr wants to be hkd
