just wondering if i could crush up a tums tablet and give it to my 2 month old son, for really bad break throughs? he was originally on zantac, did nothing for him, took him to the hospital today and he was given omeprazole and domperidone, however, the pharmacist cannot make the meds till tomorrow morning as its in the form of a compound, i know of you’s who use mylanta cherry supreme but i live in canada and we dont have mylanta all we have is maalox which has the aluminum in it, ive even tried milk of magnesia and that didnt really work, so the question is tums or no tums until we get the meds into his system or when he has a really bad epsiode?

Please understand that acid reflex can cause SERVER damage to the esophagus if not treated properly, unless it is a mild case. Tums will help, but you can also prevent acid reflex by changing your diet. Restrict yourself from eating or drinking anything spicy, has a lot of natural occurring acids, or contains alcohol. These diet restrictions will not cure your acid reflex, but it will help.
