My daughter will be 4 months next week. She has been on 15 mg prevacid since 2 months. Last week she took a turn for the worse so the dr. upped her to 22.5 mg. This is a huge dose. My son is still suffering. He is 18 months old, so at this point I’m doing whatever I can to control her pain. MY question is what do you think of the dose? and she still wakes up at the 40 min mark. I can usually get her down again, but she attacks her face like the reflux is irritating her. Can this still happen even though the acid is ‘controlled’. She does seem to be happy once she is awake, it’s just the sleep that she struggles with. It’s silent reflux. Like my son, she seems to be bothered by it coming up to her nose/sinus area. CAn she still be bothered by it even if it’s non-acidic? enough to make her uncomfortable and cry? hmmmmm I’m sick of this!!

Ugh.. its gross and irritating. Imagine having that happen all the time.. acidic or not. Ryan had a scab on his nose for months from him attacking his nose all the time.
November 11, 2011 at 4:46 pm #69342AnonymousInactiveThanks for your reply? Where is everybody? Lol. So, even if its not acidic it could still wreak havoc on their sleep? Up every 40 min? Also she crunches a lot. She does what looks like an abdominal crunch all the time. She doesnt necessarily cry when she does it. It sort of looks like a spasm. From 4 am to 630 she crunches and fusses constantly. That’s her worst time. She is so uncomfortable. Any ideas? She is on 22.5 mg prevacid and neocate. Jfranz10152011-11-11 16:48:33

neocate (sorry on my phone)

November 13, 2011 at 9:35 pm #69349AnonymousInactiveDo you have her elevated while she sleeps. Ryan had to be elevated a ton or he couldn’t sleep. The head of the crib was elevated 5 inches but slept much better if he was in his Fisher Price Soothing Motions Glider. Keep trying different things.

The ENT saw major swelling of his nasal linings due to all the irritation. We used Nasonex for 2 weeks and it REALLY helped ease the discomfort, especially at night.

November 17, 2011 at 3:54 pm #69393AnonymousInactiveAs for the nasonex I tried it but stopped it bc of is low iga. And low igg. Its a steroid and although they say ‘it’s topical’ im just nervous about its potential effect on his already weakened immune system.
November 17, 2011 at 4:16 pm #69394AnonymousInactiveWell, I went thru the nose issues/Nasonex w/ both of my sons. My older
son outgrew it at 9 months. My younger one is 8 months old and still
battling reflux with no end in sight.Iwas just reading your post about your son. I have no advice for you, but I really sympathize. My 8 mo old suffered with NO working voice for a very long time and only recently we have had some success w/ a change in meds and his voice is coming back! But he is still the worst sleeper. He tosses and turns ALL night…it’s like he can never get comfortable. Good luck!
November 17, 2011 at 4:20 pm #69395AnonymousInactiveIf you can’t do the Nasonex, I would suggest lots of saline spray to constantly “wash away” any irritants that are refluxing up into the nose. It’s harmless, just salt water.
