My son is now 7 weeks old. He was put on formula at 6 days old. At 13 days old he started getting unsettled which continuously got worse. He would cry everytime you put him on his back. (He will now sleep on his back though). Here are his symptoms:
Frequent Hiccups
Arches back and grizzles half way through a feed
Frequent Sneezing
Grunting and straining ALL day bringing his knees up to his chest
Unsettled and hard to settle
Always aggitated
Always sucking on his hands
Coughing
Seems perfect when he is stimulated or is playing with something
Makes gasping noises like when you swallow a drink and it goes down the wrong hole
Came out with eczema on cows milk but hasnt so far on soy
Wont sleep during the day, only at night – he will maybe sleep for 20 mins at a time during the day
He was put on Zantac with no effect and was then put on to 5mg a day of losec – saw little improvement after 3 weeks so 2 days ago i started trying him on 10mg a day to see if it makes a difference (it hasnt so far). The doctor also moved him on to soy formula which we started 3 days ago (after trying every other formula on the shelves – i tried pepti-junior which is like alimentum but he was terrible on it!). He seems better since being on soy, except he is constipated. I am hoping i notice an improvement because i am at my wits end!
Does this sound like reflux or something else? If the increased losec is going to work, when should i notice a change?
