New here, baby has reflux

Hello, I am new here. I found this site through La Leche League.

My baby is 6.3 weeks old . She has recently been diagnosed with reflux. She brings out most of her meal after every feed. She sounds like she is swallowing all the time and has rattled breathing.

For the past week she has been nursing round the clock. As soon as I take her off the breast she cries as if I haven’t fed her in days. So I put her right back. When she is not nursing and is not crying she is frantically sucking her fist. She starts crying after she spits up as if in pain.

The doctor has her on an antacid and on Domperidol 1 ml. She is 4 kgs now.

I am literally eating my meals over her head. I cannot lay her down to play. Even if I lay her down on a wedge she has a steady stream of milk ( not curd ) coming out of her mouth. Now a days I hold her upright for 60 mins and even then she has some curd coming out while she is upright.

I have read here about baby wearing but I am worried that she will spit up while she is being worn and I wont even know.

I have a couple of questions I hope the members here can help me with.

1. Is her eating non-stop ( she nurses from 10 am to 7 pm with 10 min breaks, no exaggerations) because of the reflux or is it a growth spurt? This is the 7th day of non – stop eating.

2. Her reflux has gotten worse in the last 7 days. Is this because she nurses so much and is overfull? Is this harmful. Should I let her cry instead of nursing?

3. Can you recommend a good sling/ baby carrier with good support for both my back and shoulders and LO’s. I have heard that baby carriers can hurt the babies spine and hips. She is 6 weeks now and we live in a tropical climate. It is very hot here so I need something that is not too padded and warm and is also secure and supportive for the babies spine.

I would like to nurse in a sling since I am at it for so long in the day. Does it hurt to nurse in a carrier. I have just gotten over sore nipples and painful latch issues, so I am not sure how I will be able to nurse in these. I have my baby in a cross cradle hold so I can make sure I support her head just in case she thrashes around with my nipple in her mouth!. Is nursing in a carrier for me?

I have heard of Moby Wrap Ergo baby carrier and Mei tai. Can you help me with which is best and or add other brands I could consider.
