HI everyone, I’m a newbie here! I’ll try to make this brief, just hoping that I can gain some insight from all you other GERD parents out there.
To make a long story short, my now 11 month old daughter was diagnosed with GERD at 4 weeks after spitting up blood. It took several tries to get the meds right, and we finally settled on prilosec with CaraCream Max. She slept on an orthopedic wedge for months, didn’t accept solids until month 8, etc etc.
Needless to say, we’ve been med free for 6 weeks now, and although there was slight rebound for the first week, nothing since. She got a bunch of shots eight days ago, and ever since then she has not acted herself! She has DARK black/green poops that smell almost acidic, she’s spitting up more, refusing food, and waking screaming in the middle of the night just like she used to.
I guess my questions are these: could the black poop be from a presence of blood? And is GERD the type of thing that can flare from stress (the shots) even though it’s been in remission for a while? And if so, how long does that last and do we need to go back on meds if it gets this bad this fast?
Any advice would be great! thanks!
