Hi everyone!
I’m new on this forum, so please excuse me if this is an inappropriate thing to do.
My DD was diagnosed with silent reflux at 6 weeks old. (She’s now 15 weeks) She began receiving Zantac because of it. It helped a lot and we saw a different within a few days. However, DD has always curled up, grunted and squirmed when feeding her. I thought it was normal as she is our first living child to take home and have not experienced anything else. My Mom came to visit us (she’s nurse) when DD was 8 weeks old. She kept telling me that this is not normal behavior when feeding and that it felt like her stomach was cramping up. So I called the pedi and he put her on Alimentum or Nutramigen. We tried Nurti first because it was the only one at the store. She did great in terms of her behavior, but wouldn’t even wean onto it because of the taste so I tried Alimentum. She took to it right away and was doing great on it up until a little over a week ago. The grunting a curling came back. I called the Pedi and he said as long as she is happy and healthy she’s fine. I insisted that she isn’t fine and that this isn’t normal behavior. He told me a bunch of crap: try new nipple size (just switched to level 2), try different positions to feed her, etc. All of this has not stopped her from this behavior. It only takes place while she’s eating. After bugging him all last week, I called yesterday to get her Zantac renewed and it was like I was talking to a different doc! He asked me how she was doing on her current dose. I said she wasn’t arching for screaming, but she does have the curling and grunting and she’s obviously not comfortable. So, he increased her dose from 1 ML 2x a day to 1.5Ml 2x a day (She’s 13 pounds). We will begin the new dose today.ANyway, This morning, I noticed her poop had a ball of mucous in it. Or what looked like mucous. It was about pee sized. Her poop was her normal Alimentum green runny poop otherwise. Next diaper 2 hours later, same thing, but a little more stringy mucous and still green. Next diaper, 2 hours later…dark colored and stringy. She’s NEVER had this color before. I’m wondering if this is considered blood in the stool, even though it isn’t bright red? Here is a picture for you all to see. Please let me know what you think and if I should call the pedi.

whatever you decide, it can take 2 weeks to see full effects/results- just to say don’t switch formulas around too much, so you can know what is working, etc… -
