It has been such a long journey…
First we began with zantac at 1 wk old, then switched from BM to soy formula, had constipation issues so then switched to nutramigen and prevacid solutabs. He reacted to solutabs and I started making prevacid marci kids dose with caracream max. Then Doc wanted him to see GI because we were still having issues. My thought was to switch formula to neocate but I listened to the docs. The GI doc wanted to switch to nexium before trying to switch formulas?? Why, you say?? I have no clue, didn’t make sense. Tried him on nexium for 2 wks and no change. I did what any mother would do, I took charge. I put him on neocate at 3 months old and switched back to the prevacid marcikids dose with caracream max. We now have a happy playful son. I should of done what I thought from the beginning. Family is saying how happy he is now and how he never cries unless he is sleepy of hungry. I tell them “mamma know best.” I am also a nurse and as a nurse and a mamma, sometimes we have to take charge.
He is now just shy of being 4 months and I just can’t get enough of him. All he does is coo, laugh and smile. And he is much better with belly time. Sleeping through the night in his crib with the tucker sling.
Still spits up about the same but he is much happier and doesnt grunt all the time to try to have a BM. Hopefully I can wean him off all this medicine.
But oh boy is it expensive. The can only last me about 3 days and you only get 4 in a case, so I buy 2 cases at a time and it last 24 days. Spending 255 every 24 days is horrible and my insurance will not cover at all. They say he has to have a medical diagnoses, like PKU to be covered.
Well I will do what is best for him even if it empties my pocket. Just wish there was more resouces out there for MSPI children. MSPI is heard of in so many children, you would think there would be more resouces out there.
Anyway, hip hip horray!!!!
