Hello!
My daughter started neocate yesterday….
She has TERRIBLE gas and tummy pains as of today. Her belly is super hard and she is constantly moaning (even as I type!). Is this normal b/c she is just adjusting? I HOPE it works as we’ve tried SO many formulas in her short 4 months.

Just wanted to add that she has watery diarrhea this morning. She has slow motility/reflux and all that you ladies are familiar with! Ugh – her tummy is so bloated.
In my experience gas drops don’t really help? Unless I’m using them incorrectly….

It’s likely that your LOs system is still healing from the milk proteins that have built up in her system. Some LOs take a bit longer to adjust to the formula switch and show major improvement. This is why you see symptoms flare and doctors recommend giving the formula at least 2 full weeks to work. HTH!!!
February 12, 2011 at 10:50 am #67799AnonymousInactiveThank you Laura and Rachel. I guess I thought by ‘flare’ it just meant reflux and not other issues…but it sounds like it can be any number of symptoms they exhibit when making a switch.
Day 5 and she is slowly improving! She is still moaning and her belly is bloated, but not as much. So far, we are thinking this is our last stop for awhile. Last night she slept for 5 hours straight! I couldn’t believe it when I woke up and looked at the clock.Anyway, we ordered two more cases from our pharmacist this morning. Fingers crossed:)Still battling in my head that it’s so much corn syrup/chemicals…I long to breastfeed. But…in time…she’ll be eating food and all this will be behind us.Thanks again, ladies:)February 14, 2011 at 5:42 am #67803AnonymousInactiveLadies –
Any thoughts on the best remedies for gas? She is getting up every 2 hours at night. That has never happened since she was born:( She also seems so agitated. Still, she is better during the day than she has been on any other formula – happy. She does act super hyper, though? Anyway, would a dairy free probiotic help or make matters worse?
Any reason it could be the combo of prevacid and neocate that is causing her bloated tummy/tooting? Ugh – I’m so frustrated. I’m hoping this week she makes a turn (week two).
If I’m missing a thread somewhere re: these topics, lead me to it – I couldn’t quite find it in a search, but I would imagine other moms have experienced this:)
