Our son son is 11.5 months old and the pedi said we can start a switch over to cows milk. Now, he has never been diagnosed with MSPI but we beleive he either has this or some sort of intolerance. He has been on Zegerid since about 2 months and anytime we try to wean him off his silent reflux symptoms come back, the only formula he did OK on, but not completely ok was parent choice added rice starch but was till pretty gassy and restless, a couple of months ago after a week long spout of diarrhea..which we don’t know what caused it, he barely tolerated that formula anymore and he also developed a red prickly rash all over his body that comes and goes and has been ever since. He always seems to have the little bumps but they are sometimes red and sometimes not.He seems to always have red bumps around his eyes…the pedi still thinks it’s all either a hat rash or a viral thing. Also, any other time we ever tried to change formulas the gass got real bad, we even tried soy once and he threw it up… .right away.
so….here we are to make this transition..From what I have told you do you think he might have MSPI and if so what kind of milk should we try him on. I know cows milk isn’t even necessary so even if he might not have this we would rather try something else right off the bat to avoid any complications. I know there is goat milk, rice and almond milk but didn’t know what we should try.
We are also trying to get into a GI doc but even though we have a PPO insurance we need a referral to a GI and I have been waiting on that for 2 months.

My ds was MSPI and was on Nutramigen until he was 11 months or so and then I slowly changed him to Gentlease and he stayed on that until he was 13 months old and then I slowly transitioned him to whole milk. We also tried yogurt and cheese before we made the transition to the Gentlease. Have you done any dairy? If you have and have not had success I would look into Hemp milk as it has more fat than most milk alternatives. Hopefully some other moms will chime in also.

you can do a search and try the word ‘milks’ or even the different milk names- when you do a search, choose from the drop down menu 6 months and EARLIER so you can go back to get good answers -
