While reading through these formus I can’t help but notice that I see mostly boys who have Reflux issues. Does that seem strange? Maybe I am mistaken…?
Also I just read a shot about vaccines and it said there is a correlation with increased reflux and the Hep B shot given within 12 hours of birth. My son had that shot and he has reflux. Just curious if anyone has an opinion on this.
Well, I had a daughter with reflux. She did not get the Hep B shot because it was not being given when she was born. And I had a son with reflux. He did get the shot, but more like 18-24 hours after birth.
Personally, from my experience (I was a regular here for a long time!) reflux seems to be inherited. My dh had it as a baby, and two of our children had it. It does seem like more boys have it though, but I could be wrong about that.
My son did not have HEP B at birth and he has had reflux since birth. I know, it’s frustrating – you try to isolate every variable to figure out what is causing it. Hang in there – you’re not alone.
I read somewhere that reflux affects like 60% of boys and 40% of girls or something like that, so yes it is more common in boys but there are plenty of girls who have to deal with it too.
