Hi There,
I have eliminated MSP for 5 days so far and there is a marked improvement in my DD’s overall comfort. She is sleeping easily and not waking constantly, she is not regurgitating as much (which is what always kept her awake), her gas is less smelly as well. She is on Zantac as well and despite the improvments she is still having difficulty specifically around her feed time. Grunting, arching, crying and resisting her bottle (I don’t think the Zantac is helping at all actually)Will this also go away with the MSPI diet? Or does the MSPI diet just help? I would like to figure this out before I go about changing her meds for the millionth time! Thanks!RmomAugust 13, 2009 at 8:47 pm #63557AnonymousInactiveFor us, eventually the diet (it took TED though) enabled us to completely do w/o any meds until he started solids (around 8 mths old). The reflux was a direct result of the intolerances. So, it *is* possible but I will say I don’t think it’s that common.
I don’t know how old your dd is or how long you had been nursing her on a ‘regular’ diet but I started MSPI-free, then TED when my ds was 5 wks old & it took a full 5 wks for his little colon to heal (ie: for his stools to regulate). It only took about 2.5 wks for the smelly gas to go away. As a general rule: once the smelly gas is gone you are probably eating the right things but it may take longer for the stools to get better as the intestines/colon take a while to heal.
Hang in there!

Actually, her smelly farts are already gone, which I guess is a good sign. Haven’t seen a poop yet, once again it’s been numerous days. And although she’s sleeping much better she still thrashes around, gurgling and ruminating much of the night especially. Did your ds do this?I’ll look into the TED and keep researching. Thanks!August 14, 2009 at 1:09 pm #63565AnonymousInactiveYes, that’s a great sign that the smelly gas is gone. Yes, my ds was still thrashing a LOT (he co-slept with me) until his stools regulated completely (yellow, no mucous, sweet smelling). Remember that their little intestines are torn up & every stool that passes through is still hurting them until their system has had adequate time to heal.
That being said, if your dd is gurgling quite a bit I would say she still needs reflux meds… & I would increase the Zantac to max dose &/or look into a PPI. While my ds was still going through the healing process (of his colon) he was still on a high dose PPI so I was able to tell that his pain was intestinal & not reflux related.
Hang in there… it’s so hard to figure out!
P.S. If your dd’s stinky gas is gone you probably don’t need to look into TED (thankfully for you!)…it may just be a MSPI for her.

After keeping Kendra on a very stricted diet for about 3 months, we were able to stop the meds and eliminate the puking problem almost 100%.In our case though, we had already gone through many testing showing that nothing was “wrong” before we started the diet. -
