The last three days have been bad. Today has been the worse. My brain tells me that this is just one of the “rides on the rollercoaster”, but sometimes I just don’t understand how the reflux can be so controlled for a few days and then just be horrible. To top it off, we were at my mom’s visiting since Friday, and that’s not helped her routine. The end of last week was great- hardly any refluxing or irritability. Then all of a sudden on Easter Day?????????At least, we’re back home and hopefully things will be better tomorrow.
(Just needed to vent!! Thanks )

April 18, 2006 at 7:11 pm #6350AnonymousInactiveI’ve just been lamenting about the same thing. My little guy did great for the past two weeks; absolutely no puking at all!! I thought we were getting past reflux and maybe he was outgrowing it. I had company for the last two weeks and we were all talking about how terrific it was.
Then, yesterday he puked three times!!!! And today twice already. I’m so disgusted with this whole d*amn reflux thing. This rollercoaster is maddening and I just want to get off of it already. All I cay say is I’m happy this is my last baby because if I ever had to go through this again I’d check myself into the psych ward and enjoy some really good psychotropic medication!!
Anyway, sorry about the vent. I hope your days get better soon and I hope your ride on this lousy rollercoaster is over soon.
Have you asked your doctor about a PPI for your baby? They work a whole lot better than Zantac in reducing the acid that may be causing her irritability.

Some days I am convinced I am going to need to take up some sort of habit to get through this. I told my husband as soon as I am done breastfeeding I’m either going to take up smoking, drinking, or meth (in my *former* life I was a kindergarten teacher so these are some harsh words coming from his *formerly* sweet wife’s mouth). I’m sorry your Easter was awful. I hope it gets better! BTW Ellie and my son are exactly the same age. . .same birthdate!

handle the tiredness/being thrown off her schedule better than she used
to, but she used to FLIP out and reflux much worse when she was younger
and out of whack. We definitely used to notice that after a busy, fun
few days she definitely felt worse for a little while before improving
again. I think our refluxers just have such sensitive little systems
and it’s not hard to throw them off.Even now she has occassional meltdowns at night when she’s too tired
and when this happens we can also hear her re-swallowing more. But it
seems to be a symptom of the overtiredness often… -
