Is it okay to give some kind of gas relief (Mylanta, Maalox, or something else) in addition to prevacid (Ian’s on 15 2x day)? He’s having a horrible time feeding and passing the loudest gas I’ve ever heard (only when eating too??). Pulling legs up, grunting. If yes, when should you give it if you have to wait 30min? Also, he’s teething.
What kind of Prevacid are you using? If it is an enteric-coated form such as the Solutabs or packets then you should not give an antacid such as Mylanta or Maalox within an hour of the Prevacid dose, as it will remove the enteric-coating from the drug while it is in the stomach and expose it to degradation by the stomach acid. If it is a compound, then you can give them together or whenever.
