i have heard of the new incisionless procecures for gerd—there are actually several of them. if you call for info on it, be sure and let us know everything you find out. it sounds like it is similar to the toupe, (partial wrap) rather than the nissen (full wrap) which means it might not be the best option for someone with severe gerd. it is also not an option for people with a hiatal hernia larger than 2mm.
one article also said it was not an option for infants—but the article was a little bit older, so maybe they have changed that.
i went into such a bad flare with my fibromyalgia after i had my hysterectomy that i am a little concerned about having surgery again. where the TIF procedure is shorter and requires no incisions, it might have less chance of putting me in to a flare—-but from what i read, i don’t think it would be an option for me because the microscopic pictures of my esophagus show severe reflux esophagitis.
