Hello All!
Would anyone know why this instruction would be on the cartons of Soy Milk? I saw this on the Trader Joe’s brand and also on the Wild Harvest brand. Not sure if I saw this on Silk.
Which brand of Soy Milk can we give to a 1 year old? its ironic since after a year of drinking only NeoCate, it appears my DD has outgrown her soy intolerance(Poo Diaper test came negative) and now, we are not sure if the Soy Milk is okay.
Thanks in advance!

April 15, 2009 at 8:04 pm #62117hellbenntKeymasterI’m not sure that the ‘other’ milks (soy, oat, almond, rice, potato) have enough good fats? so you can add flaxseed oil to your toddler’s soy milk.
also: even though diaper isn’t testing for blood (is this what you mean by negative poo diaper test?) doesn’t mean there might not be an intolerance- your lo may just have outgrown everything and I hope this to be true, but if you see night-wakings or fussiness or even mucousy poop then it might be an INTOLERANCE rather than an allergy…but it does sound like all is well!just give a lot of good fats like flax seed oil, olive oil and even avocado oilApril 15, 2009 at 8:52 pm #62124AnonymousInactiveIt just means that you shouldn’t give that (soy milk, rice milk, etc) INSTEAD of formula or breastmilk to a baby under a year old.
We just went to Evan’s ped GI appt yesterday & he want him to start trying soy milk in the next few weeks & he won’t be 1yo until May 20. I asked him about brands, etc & he said they’re all fine.
HTH some but obviously if you have any concerns check w/ your ped. Also, I agree w/ all that Laura mentioned about the other warning signs of an intolerance (personally, sleep is the 1st to go w/ my kids & intolerances, then mucousy poops, then eczema).

Laura!Good point about the intolerance. In fact, even though our pedi. said that there was no blood in poo, I was slightly hesitant. My DD has started to wake up at nights – most times for a feed. (She is very tiny, could be her appetite). But sometimes, she does cry, drinks some water and falls back asleep. Generally, she is a very happy baby – hardly cries during the night. This is making me to believe that she is being intolerant. Also, the arching. It is very distinctive now the way she stretches her body. She is currently on the Prilosec.
No mucous in the poop though, so thats good so far. let’s see. So far, we put her back on the Neocate instead of soy Milk and she is eating Tofu twice a day.
Laura: Off-topic. I was reading your signature. ALTE is what happened with my DD when she was 5 weeks old and thats when we knew she had silent reflux. Very scary!
