Just a question. I have been dairy and soy free for about three weeks and Nick’s behaviour has improved significantly. However his stools are still very green and mucousy….not that he is overly bothered. How long have people found it takes for the mucous to resolve? I am not particularly keen to try TED (for obvous reasons) given he is really a reasonably happy chappy despite the stools. At this stage there is definately no signs of reflux (thank goodness).
I think one of the users (erintx) said it took over a month for the stools to improve with her little guy. But she had to go on TED for that to happen.
You did mention OAL at one time right? The foremilk/hindmilk imbalance often associated with that can also cause the stools to be green, foamy, mucousy looking.
I would look at OAL as a possiblity also. Are the stools improving at all? I think with Eli around 2 weeks after removing the offending food his stool starting getting better.
Sent of a stool sample today…yuck. I think maybe the OAL plays a role because they are always worse in the morning and improve as the day goes on. I expected the foamy green stools with the OAL but is mucous also characteristic?
Another question…what I am finding is that the green mucousy stools occur during the first couple of poos of the day (in the morning) and they progressively become more yellow and normal like. I am wondering whether this is because the OAL is more noticeable during the early hour feeds???? And therefore the stools may be more due to OAL and/or a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance? I am going to try dairy and soy on MOnday (its my birthday so it is as good a day as any to test the theory!)
By the by, does anyone know of a good breastfeeding forum?
