my baby (6 months) had an upper and lower endoscopy done last week. His esophagus looked normal but he does have some inflammation in his colon. The biopsies showed increase amounts of eosinophilic cells in his colon. Everywhere else was normal.

The doctor gave us a prescription for prednisolone to help with the inflammation. Has anyone done this before? I hate reading about side-effects. He’s also breastfed and I have been dairy and soy free but I guess I should try the TED again? 🙁 I just recently started him on brown rice.

Unless I am wrong that is prednisone which is a steroid and really the only side effect that I know of is increased hunger. hopefully someone else will chime in, but it should help with the inflammation… did they do any biopsies?

thanks, ladies. They did do biopsies and everything was normal except for his colon. He had increased amounts of eos cells, but the doctor didn’t seem to think he had an eosinophilic disorder. After the scoping, the doctor said that his colon had some inflammation. He said he would put it at a 3 on a scale of 1-10. ugh, I just wish I could fix this.
