Infantreflux.org | heard of this mix?

today my pedi recommended the following mix (instead of plain maalox) for when my 7 wk old son has a reflux episode…wondering if you’ve ever heard of such a mix and if it worked for your child?

5ml childrens tylenol
5ml childrens benadryl
5ml maalox

administer 3ml not more than every 6 hrs

5mls of infant tylenol I would think?

http://www.askdrsears.com has the doses for all OTC (over the counter) medicines- go to the main page & ignore any pop-ups and then click on ‘Medicine Cabinet’ to find doses- you can find for both infant & children’s tylenol and also benedryl

sounds like your ped is just trying to ‘chill’ your baby out-

personally I would go for REFLUX meds, not a combo of a) a pain killer b) something to konk your baby out & 3) a MILD reflux med

nope, childrens tylenol…i asked.
i am not going to give this to him-it did seem odd to me. that’s why i posted about it here.
also, i’ve noticed that many folks on the boards give mylanta instead of maalox is that just bc of the aluminum? i wonder why my old and new pedi suggested maalox..

children’s tylenol is less concentrated, so it takes more to get the same amt of med from much less infant tylenol….

i don’t know, i might try it…..

once you check the meds (doses) on http://www.askdrsesars.com then yes, it wouldn’t ‘hurt’…
