My 6wk old son is on 15 mg of prevacid. i add 4ml of water to the tablet and then i put that in an ounce of formula. is this an ok way to give the medicine to him?

Also, i feed my so 4 oz w/ 1 1/2 tbsp of rice. i am using Dr Brown bottles and i make the nipple larger. Does the nipple have to be made larger? the formula does not seem that thick.

Nope. You want to give Prevacid on an empty stomach and then begin feeding around about 20-30 minutes after the dose.

There is a thread under medications on PPI dosing that discusses these medicines and the guidelines for them more thoroughly

So i gave Gavin his prevacid this morning with out putting it in his formula. i added the solutab to 4ml of water then used a syringe to give it to him. Lets just say more than half of it ended up on him instead of his mouth. why is this medicine so hard to give?? I hate it. i am hoping tomorrow will be a little easier. Do you think this medicine will help. i just cant wait for it to start working because my poor baby is miserable and i am losing my sanity.

We done well with capsules compounded in bufferbabies. We’ve also done well with capsule granules and baby applesauce or pearsauce.

I don’t have experience with solutabs.
