So I am on day 14 of this horrible TED and as of yesterday I was seeing improvement of ds as far as spitting up, fussiness, sleep and congestion at night but still having mucusy green stools several times a day. He is still on only a small dose of prevacid solutabs but since his spitting up was decreasing as well as the fussiness I was thinking maybe this reflux thing is all just part of being intolerant to what i eat. I have been very strict on the TED and today he is grouchy again, spitting up lots and of course he still has the green mucusy poop which also gave me the treat of pouring out of his diaper this morning and makiing a huge mess. I gave the lab samples of his poo last friday but haven’t heard word back on results as the Dr who saw him is out of town (military clinic so you see whomever has appt available) and the wellbaby Dr. that originally placed him on prevacid 2 weeks ago finally called me back and left a message with her home number to call her but she wasn’t home last night. I am desperate to know is this mucus ever going to go away, am I ever going to know if he is really intolerant to foods I am eating and do I need to eliminate more from my measly diet of 6 things as I won’t eat lamb nor squash. I have lost 5 pounds in in 14 days and feel quite crappy. Normally I would be excited about losing the weight but I only weigh 126 and I was hoping to start my fitness routine full throttle but I just don’t have the energy. I need more protein or nutrition supplements but I am to afraid to add anything for fear he may react before finding this baseline everyone talks about. DO I wait another week to see if the mucus goes away, do I take out rice or potatos right away and see if that makes a difference? I am at a loss and really hungry. I try to eat more but when food tastes so bland and like thanksgiving dinner everyday I really have a hard time with it. What if the lab tests show nothing? What do I do then?

Ok, so I know you don’t want to hear this BUT it took us 5wks & eliminating more than just TED to eventually get a baseline w/ no more green, mucous diapers.Eventually I had to eliminate turkey, rice & sweet potatoes. He still doesn’t tolerate rice or turkey & I’ve been scared to try sweet potatoes again. I still only eat potatoes, pears, squash/zuch & beef (was able to add this in) when trying to get a baseline after a failed trial. We had a colonoscopy after 6 wks of TED (he was 10wks old) & his colon was still in the healing stages. All this to say: I would continue what you’re doing for now for another week. If after the week there’s no improvement I would eliminate either rice or turkey (or both if you want to make it easiest to see results – you can always add things back in 1 @ a time). Please PM me if you have any more questions… I’m here to support you!erinntx 2008-09-24 14:12:39 September 29, 2008 at 8:14 pm #57192AnonymousInactivekmmyers307 wrote: I am desperate to know is this mucus ever going to go away,
Hang in there… I went on the TED and it took a long, long time before the poops became ‘normal.’ (Maybe 1-2 months?) I was driving myself crazy trying to figure it out, until finally our pediatrician and GI specialist told me not to worry about it because there was no blood in the stool. Things are probably still healing in your little one.
I would be careful and not take out anything from your diet without replacing it with something. You have to take care of yourself, too. (I am also struggling to keep weight on.)
And one other bit of wisdom that our GI specialist told us – even formula-fed babies (where you know *exactly* what they are eating) have bad days where they spit up more, are more fussy, etc. So don’t be too hard on yourself!
