My son has a runny nose and is very congested.. if he has anything like what i got i have sore throat as well… hes got a slight low grade fever. and i went on askdoctorsears.com and it showed a amount to give a child his size…19lbs so i gave him some… BUT i went on answers.yahoo.com and asked the question and everyone said no dont give it to him it will kill him. OMG and im in a total panic i want to sleep wiht him to night to ensure hes ok… did i do something that bad? Did you ever give you child benadryl?
September 16, 2008 at 10:27 pm #56750AnonymousInactiveIt won’t kill him. I promise. Call the pharmacist next time you have a question like that in stead of doing research on line and following it. OKAY, Promise me….LOL don’t be a bad girl…..LOL
If you tell the pharmacist the age, weight of the chidl they can tell you the dos eand how often it can be administered. I t hink Jedd was taking Benedryl at that age.If it will make you sleep better call them now and talk to them.*Jessica*2008-09-16 22:27:26

I’d never use yahooanswers. I’m sorry, but ANYONE who has yahoo email can answer them. Picture a hairy old man in a nightie (ewwww) pretending he’s a mom of 4 kids (ewwwww!!!!!) sorry, just HAD to put that in your mind to teach you a little lesson about that!!! LOLSeriously, we use Dr. Sears medicine cabinet. It has ALWAYS been in conjunction with what our pedi & pharmacist has told us, so I consider it to be VERY accurate “in a pinch” if you cannot get a hold of anyone. So go ahead and bookmark Dr sears medicine cabinet b/c it’s not a bad resource if you can’t talk to anyone else. Like I said, he’s never been wrong for us. And yes, we used Benadryl at that age a couple of time per Dr’s orders. 🙂 I hope you guys feel better soon!jilly782008-09-17 07:19:29

SSOOOOO glad to hear he’s doing better. I hop it continues!!!!! :0)September 17, 2008 at 1:37 pm #56763AnonymousInactiveaskdrsears is a great site to use esp for med dosing. I wouldn’t even trust the pharmacist at your drug store b/c some of them aren’t up to date on dosing for kids and don’t have the time to look it up. My neighbor asked me just Monday night about dosing benadryl for her son who is Cooper’s age b/c she had never used it before and the pharmacist at our CVS’s response when she asked him was “I don’t know 1/2 tsp or so”… very reasurring. So she came to me who she knows has used it and who is married to a pharmacist. Dh always has our family and friends call us about meds/dosing b/c he as the up to date info and the time to research when needed. Better to use dr sears site and be safe than do yahoo answers and end up freaked out. I hope it helped.
September 17, 2008 at 2:09 pm #56765AnonymousInactiveWe use http://www.askdrsears.com ‘s medicine cabinet as well… very often. Especially now that Brodie is 2 yrs old & the dosing (on the bottle) for most meds is by age (2-3 yrs old) but Dr. Sears does it by weight which is much more accurate, imo.
Fwiw, we gave Brodie Benedryl for a cold @ 8mths old.September 17, 2008 at 3:49 pm #56775AnonymousInactiveMy pedi told us that she was perfectly fine with the Dr. Sears medicine cabinet dosing recomendations. My ped said to definitely dose by weight. I give Nicholas Bendaryl (he’s 10 months).
