Went to a pediatric GI doc today and he says most likely dairy/soy/egg allergy. 2 options are totally eliminate these things or switch to formula. He gave us a sample of nutramigen and said if that doesn’t work then neocate. I really don’t want to use formula, but is it impossible to eat for a long period of time without those things?

Until then, here are some links to read about the TED or total elimination diet.September 4, 2008 at 7:58 pm #56092hellbenntKeymasterI did the TED. Not as bad as you’d think!
more links:September 4, 2008 at 8:07 pm #56096AnonymousInactiveIt is TOTALLY possible. I ate far less than that for a LONG time and did just fine. If you are really wanting to continue breastfeeding, you CAN DO IT!
September 4, 2008 at 9:47 pm #56117AnonymousInactiveI would totally do the TED before going to a formula. YOu think doing TED is hard try finiding a formula that woudl work, much harder. I know ladies who have literally done it for YEARS!!!! You can do it!!!
I would have if Jedd had not had his heart defect. he did n’t want to even wake up let alone eat. That made nursing impossible.September 6, 2008 at 9:31 pm #56189AnonymousInactiveGirl-do it! We’re lucky that we are only MSPI, not allergic. However, I’m doing the only eat boiled chicken and boring veggies diet (some others refer to it as the TED, but for me-it’s the boiled chicken diet) and the only reason we are supplementing with formula is because my supply has started to wane a bit. All of the benefits of BF aside, I can tell you from experience living on both sides of the boobie juice/formula fence, it is soooo much easier to get up at 3am, whip out “super boobie” and get the Blueberry back to sleep than it is to listen to my DH get up, stub his toe, make formula, heat it up, trip over a cat, say a word that sounds like “truck” loudly enough to vibrate the house, and then try and convince the Blueberry that Nutrigamenenen (however you spell it) tastes as good as boobie juice.
