YAYYY! With enough bugging, I got the 30mg of Prevacid today from our ped. I have asked a few times before at appts. and faxed once before. This time, I printed just about the WHOLE marci-kids site out and sent it with the fax. Before, I have only included the dosing calculator part. Our ped called me back a little while ago to let me know that she would call in the script. She actually thanked me, b/c she said I did all the work for her. Which concerns me a little, but oh well WE GOT 30 mg BABY!
Hopefully, it doesn’t take long to notice the increase. I am at my wits end today, so this COULD NOT have come at a better time.July 9, 2008 at 4:10 pm #53616AnonymousInactiveYAY YAY YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So happy for you guys! Hope you see improvement soon!
July 9, 2008 at 4:33 pm #53619AnonymousInactiveYay! When I sent my ped the info a few wks ago (to increase from the 5mg ped gi prescribed to the 22.5 marci-kids rec) i sent literally like 15pgs from the marci-kids site. Ped called in the script within 2 hrs-lol. We’ll be asking for 30mg @ our 2mth appt & I will (again) take all the pages. Congrats again & I’m sure you’ll notice it asap.

July 9, 2008 at 10:49 pm #53647AnonymousInactiveHow long before I notice a difference? Does it take the whole 2 weeks again? I hope not!
July 10, 2008 at 7:58 am #53658hellbenntKeymasternope. could take a day or two at the max . YAY!
July 10, 2008 at 8:17 am #53659AnonymousInactiveOh, I don’t think so… when we went from 5mg 1x/day to 7.5mg 3x/day I noticed a difference within 24hrs.
July 12, 2008 at 12:50 am #53769AnonymousInactiveOkay, so I am really noticing the difference. His sleep is so much better, yayyy. His feeds were getting really bad again and I have noticed the biggest difference in this area. For some reason, his last feed of the night (7-7:15ish) has always been REALLY bad. When he is not medicated well he gulps and has really really bad Sandifers posturing (torticollosis to the right and a bad writhing of his right arm). Not sure why its always to the right. This stuff has gone away with the med increase. All good here hopefully for a long while. He is crawling really well, hopefully soon he’ll be cruising so he’ll take some pressure off of his tummy. Thanks ladies!

July 12, 2008 at 7:50 am #53772AnonymousInactiveYAY! That is awesome. I am SO happy for you guys. I am glad you are seeing improvement already. I hope this keeps things smooth sailing til the little guy outgrows this stuff.
July 12, 2008 at 8:42 am #53773AnonymousInactiveGreat update… it is amazing what a good dose of meds does for the overall picture.
July 12, 2008 at 1:50 pm #53784AnonymousInactiveThat’s wonderful news! Your docs response sounds just like ours. He was happy that I gave him all the info too. He made it sound like there is just so much new research out there that it’s difficult to keep up with every new development in pediatrics. I think I was the “pushiest” mom that he had ever dealt with. I was all the time bringing in new info. for him. He always acted nice about it, but I bet it irritated him too. Oh well, at least he upped Ben’s meds when necessary.
July 12, 2008 at 5:39 pm #53793AnonymousInactiveMy ped did tell me that I should be in medical research. I confessed that I didn’t write the letter, another fab reflux momma did (thanks Laura). She told me that I am definitely the most informed mother she has ever had. Like you said Naomi, peds can’t really stay on top of everything new. They have to be informed in so many areas (rashes, infections, allergies, etc.) it MUST be hard to do it all.
July 14, 2008 at 6:56 am #53855AnonymousInactiveI’m late to this but just wanted to say yay for the 30 mg!!! I’m so glad it’s helping. When we increased my son to 30 mg at around 2 1/2 months old, it was the FIRST time he didn’t cry all day since he was about a week old — he got almost zero relief from the lower doses.
Hopefully your bad days are gone for good now!!! -
