Heading out to see ped in a few minutes. They upped baby’s Zantac last week and it worked- for 2 days. Now things are worse then EVER?!?! she’s 8 weeks old and I thought it was all levelin gout? Anyway, I WANT PREVACID!! Any suggestions on how to get it from the ped? They are very relaxed about her reflux because she’s gaining weight so i dont know if they’ll give it to me:( We have a GI apt but not until 7-30!! HELP!
THANK YOU!!!!KatieJune 30, 2008 at 1:22 pm #53193AnonymousInactiveGo to the Marci-Kids website (Marci-kids.com) and print off the info on H2Blockers, PPI’s etc. It’s actually designed for that specific purpose. It states that PPIs are the safest and most effective treatment for pediatric reflux. I would also print out a list of all of the doctors that are involved in the Marci-Kids research. Most ped will be willing to read it as well as prescribe the Prevacid because they are specialists who have conducted lots of research. If your ped won’t listen to what they have to say, I’d switch peds. Good luck. Hope this was quick enough.

June 30, 2008 at 2:41 pm #53203AnonymousInactivethank you so much, I did bring “some” of the ppwrk and left the dosing chart home by mistake. I dropped off the script but now looking at the Marci-kids info I know what I was prescribed isnt nearly as much as on the website. I believe it’s only once a day too. My ped called our local childres Hospital to get the proper doing instructions and said she was prescribing my daughter the mid to high range but left room to go up from there. Is this OK?!?!

Remember to give the solutabs 30-60 minutes before eating and on an empty stomach. I have seen Beth post before (her dh is a pharmacist) that once cut, the solutabs need to be kept in the dark. I believe she wraps the left over half in aluminum foil until its given.June 30, 2008 at 4:20 pm #53220hellbenntKeymasterJune 30, 2008 at 4:23 pm #53222AnonymousInactiveNo problem. How much did the ped prescribe? My baby was taking 7.5 2xday, which wasn’t enough according to Marci-Kids, but totally controlled the reflux. If it helps but doesn’t alleviate it, just take the dosing chart into the ped and show him, or tell him to check out the Marci-Kids site . I think there is actually a section of the site for physician info. Tell him it’s better, but not good yet and you want more. Marci-Kids has helped soo many of us…Thank you Marci-Kids.
One other thing is you may want to continue the Zantac for a bit, so the Prevacid has a chance to kick in. I think you can’t give then together though. I’m not sure of the specifics but I’m sure someone will chime in.Good Luck! -
