Beth’s post about Cooper reminded me that I am long overdue in writing an update about Benjamin. I’m sure many of you have already noticed from my signature that he is off Zegerid and drinking whole milk!! He’s been Zegerid free since about mid-April, and despite getting two colds, a stomach virus, and cutting all 4 eye teeth, we have not had to put him back on the meds. For this, we are extremely grateful. I have been giving him a Pepcid Complete before bed, mainly to get him through the teething. I’m not totally sure he still needs it, but I’m not willing to chance it until those teeth are totally in.
He was finally totally weaned to whole milk about three weeks ago. Yes, I breastfed for nearly 20 months! My boobs are nearly non-existent now, but it was worth it. DH may beg to differ there, however. I remember those early months when nursing him was so HARD, and made me nearly break down with anxiety. It was such a joy to finally be able to nurse a happy and content baby that I found it difficult and bit heart breaking to stop. Anyway, though he’s still not much of a fan, he is drinking whole milk now.I am still wondering if he has some allergies or intolerances, as a random yukky diaper or patch of excema will appear. I haven’t been able to find any particular pattern with this or a particular food he is reacting to, but I do plan to ask to see an allergist at his next dr. appt.Anyway, ladies, if I trusted my memory enough, I would list the names of each of you who helped me so much in those early days, but I’m afraid I would leave some precious woman out! I would hate to do that because, seriously, you all saved my life. I know I’ve said that before about this site, but I don’t say it flippantly. There were many dark, dark days there early on, and you ladies and this site were my only support and encouragement to keep going. I joined this site when Ben was only 9 weeks old! Seems like a lifetime ago, but I can still remember that gut-wrenching anxiety that haunted my every day and the peace and support that I found from you all. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK ALL OF YOU!!June 24, 2008 at 2:46 pm #52966AnonymousInactiveThat’s such great news! WTG Ben!
