I am just so excited that I can’t keep it in anymore.
Cooper is OFF Prevacid!!! He hasn’t had any in a week and after 9 long weeks of weaning I think he is fine with no reflux meds!!! We of course are still on Zyrtec and Singulair but I can deal with that. And to add to the fun.. he puts himself to sleep now all the time!!! He actually reaches for his crib at night after we read books!! I somtimes wonder why I waited until 16 months to do sleep training. So to all you Newbies out there, things do get better and the reflux does go away and they do sleep when they aren’t in pain. I know there were many times when I dreaded nighttime.. now I love it. I am praying we can wean him off his allergy meds too but I am not going to try that until we see the allergist in August to find out what he is truly allergic to. You Ladies saved me in those early days Thanks so much.

I am not sure why I waited until 15 months to sleep train Landen either, but I am glad he is now! I think in the back of my mind I always associated his wakings with pain or the need to drink. The experiences I had with him as a tiny baby just imbedded into my head and I always thought something was wrong.Anyway- so happy he is reflux-free and SLEEPING!!!June 23, 2008 at 1:06 pm #52907AnonymousInactiveWonderful news! Thanks for sharing!

July 21, 2008 at 9:52 am #54254AnonymousInactiveIT’s very nice to hear positive things!!! Congrats! What kind of sleep training did you use? We aren’t ready for it, but I’d be curious to see what worked for other reflux babies (once they weren’t in pain anymore.)

I am not the model for sleep training by any means. We didn’t sleep train until 15 months old. I used to rock him to sleep everynight and gradually I stopped rocking him in the middle of the night when he would wake up. I would then just rub his back and sing to him until he fell back asleep. Then one night when we were rocking to “sleep” he decided to cover my head with his blanket and laugh at me. i was a bit fed up from other events that day so I just plopped him down in his crib and walked out. To my surprise he didn’t cry so I just left him. It took him about 90 mins to fall asleep that night, but we only had 2 nights where he cried any, they were bad but we just sat in his room and sang to him and then he fell asleep. After about 2wks of going to sleep on his own at night then I did naps and luckily now he asks to go “nite nite” But again he is 17 months and off meds totally. But there is hope. I probably could have done it earlier but I am a softy and I did what worked until it didn’t as I am sure you will hear many of us say frequently when it comes to sleep.
