I’m so tired of my little girls in pain! Both girls have tubes, but Alexis’s are on their way out, no adenoids, no tonsils. Taylor just got an ear infection May 29 just finished abx a few days ago, and now extremely crabby again, so back to the MD we go today- most likely another ear infection. Alexis has been very good with ear infections, but everytime she visits the in laws and stays over night at my SIL’s house (which is disgusting! but what can you do?) she comes home with an ear infection. They are smokers and when she is around, they are really good, they smoke only outside but she still gets the infections, the MD thinks it maybe from the residue smoke in the house and on their clothes since the girls are never exposed to smoke when they are with us or anyother people we are around. Also Taylor still gets strep throat even with no tonsils. We just had her repeat allergy testing and IgG and IgE to test her immune system and everything is normal. I just want to know what your thoughts are?

No advice… just wanted to offer hugs. That sounds really hard! I hope the girls are feeling better soon.

I know that the smoke can be a big issue. I grew up in a house with smokers and it never affected me until I graduated high school and went to college and wasn’t around it anymore. Now I have to ask that people don’t smoke around me b/c I get stopped up, congested and cough, sneeze.. you name it.. I usually have to take medicine to help be deal with all the smoke. You may as hard as it is going to be just have to tell the inlaws that they can’t visit for extended periods b/c of what happens.. Maybe that will make them want to stop smoking??? Just a thought. I am so sorry you are having to go through this.

We’ve been there, done that. It’s not fun, although we’ve never had any smokers in either family and really none of our friends either. I guess I didn’t even know that it affected ears, but would obviously make sense! It’s a hard topic, but I know it’s also a pain in all senses of the word to have kiddos with ear aches all the time! Hope you can get it resolved! I did find that Grffin has pretty much outgrown them now, hoping that will happen with Owen.
