Hi!
I’m new here – my name is Mandy and I have a 2 year old and a 3 month old.My 3 month old was diagnosed with reflux at about two weeks and we’re also suspecting food allergies. My older daughter was diagnosed with a milk protein allergy at 2 months old, so this is not new to me.When Amelia (my 3 month old) had her first green/mucousy/blood streaked stools I immediately stopped my dairy intake. After 3-4 weeks nothing had changed, so I eliminated soy as well. No change. Then I tried wheat. No change.I’ve been on the Dr. Sears TED for 6 days now and I think we’re seeing some improvement. I’m trying to go as strict as possible until I see some improvement. This forum has been HUGELY helpful!!Here are my questions:What does he mean by “yellow” and “green” squash? I’ve been strictly doing summer squash and zucchini – but what about other squashes?I saw that some of you had added in brown sugar and some oils? Did you wait to see improvement first and then add them back in?What about rice milk? The Dr. Sears website says to drink a ‘rice beverage’ but rice milk has tons of other ingredients, including an oil? I haven’t been drinking it because I want to be absolutely sure that I’m doing the best I can.Do you only do range-fed turkey? What’s the benefit of range-fed vs. just having turkey that is not ‘injected’ or fed antibiotics?I really don’t know much about food in general and just the fact that I have to cook for myself now (instead of just popping something in the microwave) is all new to me…….Thanks for any input you have!-MandyJune 2, 2008 at 6:34 pm #52094AnonymousInactiveWhen I did TED, and I did for several months.. free range turkey was not available to me, so I just tried to find it as natural as possible. The Rice Dream beverage tends to be what most moms drink, but I do think it has gluten in it. There are other options, but I can’t think of names right now. I didn’t drink much of it, just used it for cooking and in cereal. Just didn’t like the taste much.
As for the squash.. I did just what you did, but after the two week mark, I added in other squashes.. it was fall, so pumpkin, acorn, etc. I also waited the two weeks before adding in the brown sugar, though I think I did the olive oil from the beginning, and I ate alot of it, trying to get my fats in.I would just go the two weeks as strict as you can, then slowly add one food at a time, waiting three or four days before starting something new.. kinda the same way you start solids with babies. It sucks, so I really feel for you. One good thing.. I lost all my baby weight right away. The pounds flew off! -
