Hi
Nithin is now 10 months and walking now holding up my fingers he is generally a very happy boy except .for the past 2 weeks he is refusing his bottle totally.this is not new but the weird thing is he is eating his solids happily for all 3 meals but refusing to take his bottle.he has also cold for the past one week but not sure whether its due to cold since he is getting better now. and also this problem started a little before his cold i know he is very hungry in the morning’s around 5 a.m but he doesnt want his bottle and sucking his pacifier wigerously, when it falls he screams.he is currenlty around 18 pounds and is in good dose of prevacid now he takes 7.5 mg 3 times a day.i dont know whats the reason since he eats all other food happily and just doesnt want a bottle he hardly drinks 4-6 oz a day now and i am worried about it.did this happen to anyone else too…..anybody has any idea or suggestions plssssssssss help me i am going crazy thinking abt it.nithinsmom 2008-05-28 06:28:36 May 28, 2008 at 8:24 am #51820AnonymousInactivesippy cup! Some kids self wean when they don’t want to be a “baby” anymore. I had one of each (baby forever, and one fiercely independent child!)
Sorry I don’t have better advice…..May 28, 2008 at 9:36 am #51823AnonymousInactiveI was also going to suggest a sippy! Landen took one much earlier than Kaden and I think it was just negative association with the bottle for Landen. When I finally got his pain under control with reflux, he got really severe RSV and couldn’t breathe to drink from the bottle. I ended up taking the spout out of the sippy (messy- but easier for them to get fluid at first) and then added the spout back in when he had the hang of how to suck from a sippy. Landen still takes 2 bottles a day (nap and bedtime) but def prefers a sippy. I use the bottle to get the horrid taste of his neocate past his tastebuds.

The fact that you said he just got over a cold is a good indication that his ears could be causing problems. That’s when Ben would get his ear infections. He always got them without a fever too, so you can’t always go by that. Might be worth a visit to the doc just to be sure.May 29, 2008 at 2:12 pm #51862AnonymousInactiveI was also going to suggest having his ears checked for fluid in the ears. Hailey had very severe fluid in her ears. It impacted her hearing, and we also noticed that she drank more willingly from her bottle (within her own standards) after we got that issue resolved.
Our feeding therapist told us to offer the bottle, but if she didn’t want it, not to force it, but to try and offer from a sippy cup and see if she would take that. Good luck. -
