I read on several other topics that the barium can cause really bad constipation. That’s the last thing I want is for her to be in pain for a constipation problem! Can any of you tell me if there is anything that you all recommend to prevent the constipation? We go for the test on Thursday morning. She’s only 7 weeks so can I can’t give her juice.

I can cause constipation, but only if you don’t give her enough formula. I can’t remember how good of an eater she is but if she doesn’t eat well, you might want to try and give her some extra water. What happened with us was just “putty” like stools for about 24hrs. They were white so don’t freak out about that and looked to me like silly putty. But just feed her like you usually would and she should be fine.

Dagney was very constipated from the Upper GI, but no one told us that she would be! She was a very good eater, but was only 3 months old, and we weren’t supposed to give her water yet. I did give her a very little prune juice, but she wouldn’t drink it anyway. We just had to wait it out…hopefully someone has a better suggestion for you!
