Hello Ladies,
I have been so afraid to post anything about Cooper’s med wean in the fear of jinxing us, but I think I am safe now. We are down to 15mg/day (7.5mg in a.m. and p.m.) with no problems showing. I cut him down to 22.5mg for 3wks and tomorrow it will be 2 wks at the 15mg and I will probably go at that for another week and then cut out his a.m. dose totally and have him down to 7.5mg/day. I will probably stick at that for 3wks as well (longer if this pollen mess doesn’t clear up) and hopefully that will be all for meds. For a bit there I was starting to be “convinced” that Cooper was allergic to milk with his only symptom being nasal congestion, but after a week at the beach with no pollen and no doggies, I now know that it truly is seasonal/environmental allergies. He didn’t have a runny nose the whole week. I didn’t have to give him benadryl and he never once woke up itching his nose…. So that is all our good news for the last month or so. I hope/pray it continues. We go to the ped tomorrow for our 15month check up… I have a feeling I am going to switching to 2% milk after I see his wt gain.
YAY Cooper (and mommy)! Such great news!!! LOL about the 2% milk.

I am so glad to hear things are going well!! Keep us posted!! Just an update on our Ped appt. His weight has jumped from the 50th%ile to the 50-75h%ile, so 2% milk here we come. I told her about his possible chicken allergy and she immediately wrote me a referral to the allergist. They can’t get us in until August 13th.. which is fine since they said he has to be off Zyrtec/Benadryl for 10 days prior… so atleast at that point the pollen will be gone and the puppy will have a fenced back yard so pollen and pet dander will be less of an issue. And I wasn’t planning on giving him chicken again until 18 months so I won’t have to change my plan at all. I’ll post about that all in 3 months when we finally go…. But otherwise his is “perfect” according to the ped… which I always thought anyway.
