Hi there,
I’ve posted b4 on DD’s MSPI issues/reflux & her Dr. suggesting Peptamen Jr. which I later found out that 1-may still bother the MSPI & 2-is not covered by ins.
Does anyone know of any other thing out there that I can either order online or find assistance in purchasing? The Neocate Jr. is very pricy.
I am still BF at 12 mo but feel my supply might be dropping and the rice milk supplemet does not provide enough nutrition. I do add olive oil to it and buy enriched. DD really still doesn’t like it too.
She eats like a bird also & is still 17 lb 14 oz at 12 mos.
TIA!

It is a potato based milk that has as much calcium as milk. But it is dairy, soy, gluten, rice free (and free of other things too, that I cannot recall at the moment) and we are going to give it a try! Just wanted to suggest it as an alt. as well!

I looked the Darifree up and it looks pretty yummy. I wonder though if it has enough calories & fat content? It is fortified and has lots of calcium which is great. What other foods does your DC eat that adds fat? DD is SO picky. The good thing is that there are a few places near me that I can purchase from. Yay.Thank you!May 12, 2008 at 11:49 pm #51394AnonymousInactiveCoconut milk is a good source of (healthy) fat and calories, and hemp milk is a good source of protein. The coconut milk can be fairly thick and have a strong flavour, so you would likely only want to add a small amount to another milk sub. I know a few people who do a mix of various milk substitutes in order to come up with one that is tasty as well as a good source of calcium, fats, protein, etc. MFPIx22008-05-12 23:50:51

Landen loves pasta, so I can add some olive oil to his pasta every day and he eats tons of meat and green beans for protein. Landen was not too keen on meat or green beans at first, but I just relentlessly put it on his tray every single day until he decided he liked it. My older son has very poor appetite, oral aversions and extreme food selectivity so I am a little “over the top” at making sure Landen gets tons of variety each day. LOL

I’m thinking of the kind I cook w/ that comes in a can.Good idea! Also thanks Jill for the olive oil in the pasta trick. I guess I’ll have to try to be sneaky and stick supplements in where I can. Thanks again!May 13, 2008 at 2:36 pm #51417AnonymousInactiveActually the coconut milk is the same one as you cook with – the one that comes in a can.
