So, ds is now 5 months and has been breastfed up til now. I know that he is milk intolerant and has been since 3 wks old. He recently tested positive for allergy to soy and egg also (I had suspected egg). His ped and GI doc have been pushing me for months to switch him to formula and I have resisted until now. I have been off dairy since he was 5 weeks old, but I cannot do a dairy, soy, egg free diet. I just can’t. And logically I know he will be better off with a consistent diet of hypo formula where he is not constantly exposed to his allergens. But, emotionally I can”t seem to let go. He takes a bottle well and will now drink the Nutramigen that I have introduced (although I am sweetening it with Splenda), so logistically it is not a problem. I just can’t seem to actually do it. This is mostly just a vent, cause it feels good to get it out. DH does not understand – he is just too logical and doesn’t get the emotional bond side of it. But, darn, I really want a milkshake! Any words of wisdom for me?
