I haven’t read much about prilosec here. I wish the dr. would just prescribe the prevacid already. This is her third medication and I don’t know if it will help or not. I can’t even find a liquid version on my insurance site, they only have tabs and solutabs but they prescribed a syrup. Does anybody know the proper dosing for prilosec?
She has prescribed 2ml-8ml (increaseing each 48 hours to find proper dose). I dont’ know how much mg that is. She weighs about 11lbs.She started getting a little better on the zantac but then it started making her puke even more, maybe because she hates the taste so much, it always makes her scream even when we mix it w/ mylanta.thanks for any advice. Also had a question about using the malox w/ simethicone. She has a lot of gas too so can we give her the tabs dissolved in water? I noticed it is missing the magnesium ingredient so might be better even than mylanta.thanks.April 14, 2008 at 5:13 pm #50319AnonymousInactivebtw- How much Pepcid complete and what form should I get. I’ve seen only one post here relating to dosage and I think that it said 1/2 tab dissolved in water.
I found out just now that the prilosec is a compound so it is crushed up and put in liquid at the pharmacy, which I know is not preferred here. Is there a better way to give it? perhaps one of the OTC omeprazole meds can be administered in a better way, of course sticking to the dosage prescribed?thanks.April 14, 2008 at 8:10 pm #50328hellbenntKeymasterPrint up/print out EXACTLY how to request that the prilosec be made (go to the top of this page, click on ‘Medicines’ and look for the top posts- these are stickied- you’ll find it there)
find the name of the compounding pharmacist & the direct fax numberFax your dr & ask her/him to please ‘humour’ you & to write out the prescription this way (type it up & put in the fax) & provide pharmacist’s name & faxcall dr’s office to tell them you sent faxcall again later to ask when you should call the pharmacyApril 14, 2008 at 9:24 pm #50345AnonymousInactiveI’ll look. What bothers me is that the pharmacist (walmart) didn’t know how to make it so had to call to Childrens Medical and get the formula. Then they had to order some component that is used for disolving the wax or something. So maybe they got good info from the hospital, I think it might be too late for me to fax anything though because they probably already made it.
April 15, 2008 at 5:52 pm #50377hellbenntKeymasterJust tell them to print out HOW EXAACTLY they made it- all the ingredients, the % of ingredients, etc.
THEN if it’s not ‘right,’ DEMAND that it be made the way YOU SAY.if you have to, get the dr to write it out EXACTLY how you say.in the meantime, check http://www.marci-kids.com to find out if the dose is ‘right’ -
