Anyone have info on this for me? DD is allergic to Milk & Soy but moreso to milk.
When I wean (she is 11 mo) her ped has suggested this b/c she can’t have cow milk & hates goat milk.
Thanks!!April 14, 2008 at 11:23 am #50295AnonymousInactiveI’m not too familiar with peptamin jr. Are you in the U.S.? I think another mom (maybe from Australia??) used that with her baby alana. I *think* it is just like Nutramigen or Alimentum. It’s basically a formula that has finely broken down milk protein (and the proteins are shaped differently) to try and fool the body into thinking the milk is not there. It may work for your baby. If not, there is Rice milk, Oat milk (which we are trialing with some success I think!) and a potato based milk called Vance’s DariFree.

I was hoping she would be close to outgrowing her allergy but no dice.
3 bites of ice cream yesterday gave her the runs & a rash! *sigh* this is so hard.PS-I see in your siggie that your baby has sensory issues. DD is a refluxer & on Prevacid. She used to have Sandifers & I still suspect she has sensory problems as well. What type of issues does your little one have? S. was/is sensitive to sound, light, water. Her temperment is awful at times-anything sets her off. Do you have any of this? Thx! T.Nooknookmom22008-04-14 15:24:37

We have Pepti Jnr here which is just basically Allimentum or Nutramigen (can’t remember which one) as Jill described. alana was on it until about 14months. Her pead was happy for her to continue on it indefinately but Alana was able to be weaned to soy and eventually milk. It is a consistency similar to rice milk and perhaps not so tasty so you might have to look into flavouring (presuming it is the same product). If she is allergic, not just intolerant she may even react to Pepti Jnr and you might have to go to neocate. You can get both on prescription fairly cheaply in Aus so if you are in Aus perhaps you can get a script and try. Goodluck

It gave him gas, constipation, reflux symptoms flared up and was up all night. We are doing Oat milk now. Pacific foods makes it. You might give it a shot instead of rice milk. Landen LOVES the taste and takes it in a sippy and is tolerating it well.here is a link to the milk, oat is in the list: http://www.pacificfoods.com/products-nut-grain.phpMy older son has sensory integration problems with food (textures, smells) he won’t eat ANYTHING and gags voluntarily and involuntarily on food. He has issues with tactile too. His socks must be on straight or he’ll throw a fit, take them off and put them on his hands. He’s always walking around with socks over his hands. He is also sensitive to sounds. he startled SOOO bad as a baby and hated the vaccum cleaner. He’d cry and cry. I had to have someone take him outside so I could vaccum. Now he is constantly asking “what is that noise” and nobody else will hear a thing. Only a minute later we would figure out it was a “hum” from the refrigerator or something that really stood out to him that we would block out. He is SO hard to bathe. Freaks if you pour water over his head to wash his hair. He’s gotten better at nail clipping and teeth brushing, but those were once huge struggles. He just recently saw a team of people that work with kids with feeding problems and sensory problems and they confirmed what I was seeing was indeed sensory integration problems.wow, sorry for the long response! Sensory problems can vary greatly from child to child. What helped me was the SPD checklist:jilly782008-04-17 15:30:50

NAK: Thanks for the great reply. I will look into Oat milk as well. I didn’t know about sensory issues until DD. Wow Landen sounds very similar to Sequoia. I wish I could type longer but DD has other ideas!I really appreciate you sharing you experience-it helps to know I’m not crazy & Sequoia isn’t the only one that reacts to sounds differently.Have you tried anything to help the sensory issues? Does your Pedi believe in it? DD’s just tells me she is going through her terrible 2’s early & it is her personality.TrinaNooknookmom22008-05-02 14:57:26

yes my pedi believes in sensory problems and she is also aware how common they are in the reflux/mspi world. i am lucky to have her as our pedi. i am getting help for kaden with his sensory issues and food related sensory problems from an OT and through a feeding clinic. we haven’t started therapy yet, we are on a waiting list. i’ll def be posting once he starts so if there is something they are doing to help him it might be able to help others. -
