Cole seemed to have improved on day 5, but that was really the only day. He really had a tough day today, crying and refusing and wanting the bottle back again and then refusing it. He seemed very hungry but unable to eat.
I know that Tracy mentioned that the PPI may need to be raised after day 10, but it’s only day 7 and we’ve really only had 1 good day of comfort. I had to resort to the cup and spoon again to try to get him to drink more (he loses interest quick with these now).Just wondering what you all think, am I being impatient? Just wondering how long I should wait. We see the GI next Wed.April 4, 2008 at 7:29 am #49864hellbenntKeymasterit was day 12 for us. we saw some improvement along the way, but on day 12 it was OBVIOUS. if it’s marci-kids dosing, hang in there (& even if it’s not marci-kids dosing!) if you have zantac (or axid or tagament or pepcid), give this too! space it 4hrs from the zegerid
April 4, 2008 at 2:13 pm #49882AnonymousInactiveWe never saw improvement until the dose was right. And even then she was more comfortable, but we still had the feeding aversion. If I recall correctly his dose is on the low side. If there’s any direction to move with that, I would. Hang in there.

I am dosing per Marci-Kids. Hopefully he does not have an aversion, but it is very possible. He still doesn’t seem comfortable while eating to me, he cries hard for the bottle than can only eat a little and stops, then cries to have it back. After this a few times, he gives up.I will increase the dose if he doesn’t improve by day 12-14.April 4, 2008 at 5:50 pm #49891AnonymousInactiveFor us, the first time we noticed improvement (on Prevacid) was day 12, and then on day 24 we saw HUGE improvement.
I know how hard it is. Hang in there. Hopefully you will see a turnaround soon!April 4, 2008 at 5:55 pm #49893AnonymousInactiveWe didn’t see complete improvement until day 17. There were TINY things along the way that helped me stay positive that it was working…but by day 17 things were dramatically better. Don’t give up yet! GOOD LUCK!
April 4, 2008 at 7:37 pm #49901AnonymousInactiveThanks for the encouragement, that is what I needed. I will try to stay positive. We see GI next Wed and I’m sure she will do the hemoccult blood test again. Last time he had blood in his stool, he’s had blood in his stool for months now. Today was a little better day, he seemed hungrier at least, eating every 2 hours about 1-2oz each time. Thanks again. SweetBoy2008-04-04 19:39:49
April 4, 2008 at 8:04 pm #49905AnonymousInactiveGreat that he is doing better today. Let us know how the GI appt. goes. I’m pretty sure it can take quite a long time for the gut to heal, so it is still possible that there might be some blood in his stool. I can’t remember how long he has been on Neocate though.. Hopefully though, he will be all healed up!!!
April 5, 2008 at 9:21 pm #49950AnonymousInactiveOh no! I hope things start improving more quickly…but remember milk proteins could still be in his system and causing tummy discomfort. Do you notice painful reflux at all? Like the others said, it could take longer than a few days especially if his esophagus has some erosion…which will heal in time but is of course hurting now while it is healing. I hope things improve!
