Hi, my son has been on priolsec for about a month. The dose was increased about a week ago. I’m noticing more gas and cramps more than prevacid. Is this normal? I really cant give mylicon drops every feeding. He also takes axid to. Although he spits out most of the priolsec cant blame not sure how much he is getting??? Any reflux Mommy’s dealt with gas and priolsec?-Daniela

We also saw more gas in Prilosec (we used the compound) and saw it reduced when we moved to Prevacid (although the Prevacid never really kicked in for us).

The Prilosec worked better for our daughter’s reflux. The GI moved us to Zegerid today, which has Mylanta mixed with it and gave us something to relax her for the gas. She also said to make sure the baby poops every day (use a glycerin suppository if necessary) to ward off these crazy night “gas fits” our daughter has been having.

the axid & the prilosec should be given 4hrs seperate (or at the very least 2hrs seperate)

From all I’ve read, using suppositories every day isn’t the best option…

what formula/breastfeeding is he on? perhaps that is the cause of the gas- built up proteins (milk & soy) in the system can cause gas

He was on alemntuim for 2 1/2 weeks in February but now is on elecare again, we did a trial to see of he would do better was a bad move. Do you think he should have healed by now ,he did a a positive guaic to.???

I would think that after 3 weeks on elecare you’d see a difference…how long has he been on elecare?
