I got an idea, ladies….

LET’S VISIT A REMOTE EXOTIC ISLAND, GET A BACK/SHOULDER RUB BY THE LOCAL CABANA BOY, DRINK A PINA COLADA, AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST…

LETS GET SOME DARN SLEEP!

And let’s leave all the little ones with every doctor that said to us mammas……………..

“He’s just adjusting to the world”

“It’s probably just colic”

“He’ll outgrow it”

“Maybe you just need some sleep”

“Does it concern you that you have to do a lot of laundry?”

“It’s probably worse for you than it is for him”

“We really don’t give medication for reflux for babies that small”

“His arching, choking, gagging, turning blue, constant crying, refusal to feed, and never sleeping really doesn’t concern me as long as he’s gaining weight”

then we’ll see if reflux really is SUCH a big deal to these docs

feel free to add the comments docs made that REALLY aggrivated you

We’re approaching 16 months of no sleep – so I’m all for the sleeping part!

And the best comment I ever got (from someone who’s never even had a child) – “babies DO cry, you know!”

Hey, I think my favorite so far is:

“He’s been doing this for 30 years as a doctor, you’ve been a mother for only 6… stop overreacting, let him do his job.”

After reading that, I think I’ll sweeten the pot and throw in a Strawberry Martini along with the Pina Colada…. I would throw in MORE sunshine, but I’m from NY, THERE AIN’T ANY!!

Ugh, this winter has seemed neverending because of all the colds (and reflux FLARES) at our house. But spring is coming!!!

Oh, and my favorite comment was from my MIL when she came to visit Nathan when he was about 2 or 3 months old (she lives 600 miles away)….when he awoke from a 20-minute nap screaming his head off (like he did ALL the time back then), she grabbed him up and starting rocking him and asked me, “how much of this is really reflux and how much is just spoiled rotten baby?” I just about blew my lid, even though she was kinda laughing. But I have to continually remind myself– if I had never had a refluxer, would I have ever believed that a baby could be SO difficult? Probably not.

Hope everyone has a good night’s sleep 🙂
