Hi All,

I don’t want to jinx us, but I’m very excited at what’s going on, so I had to share it with people who would REALLY understand! Dagney has been PREVACID-FREE for 10 days!!! We weaned from 3 to 2 doses in October, then down from 2 to 1 (replacing 1 with Axid) in the end of January, then 1 1/2 weeks ago went down to none. She’s now on 3 ml Axid 2x/day, but I’m really optimistic taht she doesn’t really need that either. Our doc has had us go slowly. We were supposed to cut the dose of Prevacid & replace w/ Axid and wait 1 month before moving on, but we waiting 5 weeks because she was sick. I’m so happy that she’s not on it, and KNOCK ON WOOD, hasn’t had any flare-up issues or symptoms!! Please keep your fingers crossed for us, and to all of you newbies, know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel!!

That’s great! Did your doc mention how long after a wean before you know that you’re in the clear. We’ve been wondering that, but no one seems to be able to give a clear answer.

Thanks everyone! So far so good!

The doc didn’t mention how long after the wean we’d be in the clear, but she did want us to wait a month in between each change, so I guess she thought that would be enough time to tell. Once this month is up (off of Prevacid and on 2 doses of Axid), we’re supposed to go down to just 1 dose of Axid before bedtime. I guess then we’d go another month and cut out the last Axid dose altogether. THEN after that I suppose we’ll start moving her over to cheese and milk, then she’ll be close to 2! Wow, I’m getting ahead of myself, but time really is flying by.
