Have any of you given your LO’s over-the-counter Tums crushed up along with any PPI’s, etc? Brandon is 6 months (will be on the 23rd.) and is on Prevacid…so I was curious if that could be added safely? I know I should just call the ped but some of you ladies have probably more experience!

if you look at the different posts among the ‘stickies’ here in the Medicine Forum, you should find what you’re looking for-

the short answer is: yes, tums is fine- the quick dissolve ones are great and also look at the ingredients- there are certain flavors that are safe for MSPI babies

also: this is why you can go look around this forum- but tums can’t be given with a PPI- this I’m not exactly sure of- so do look- but I know that mylanta CAN be given w/ zantac, so my logic is that tums also can be given w/ zantac (or axid or tagament or axid or pepcid), but NOT with a PPI. HOWEVER. zegerid is another story. yes! you can use tums with zegerid…
