So we are on day 13 of Zegrid and it doesn’t seem to be working. We are also giving Zantac when needed, though I’m not sure it does much except make me feel a little better about having done all I can.
I’m wondering if anyone has had Zegrid kick in after day 14, or if I should just stop it if it’s not working. I’m totally tired, stressed, and I think my marrige is falling apart. I just want to do the best for my son and I can’t seem to stop the pain. I’m dairy free and soy free. I guess the next step is the TED, is that right? DH thinks I’m stupid for not eating things, but at this stage anything that wil help. Can other PPI’s work if Zegrid doesn’t???? It seemed to be ‘the best’ and I can’t believe how much it cost, I don’t think I can convince DH to try another medicine, he thinks we should just stop them al.January 14, 2008 at 8:05 pm #47348AnonymousInactiveWhat dose of zegerid is your little one on? We honestly didn’t see results until around day 17, but we could see SLOW improvements from about day 12 until it fully kicked in.
Does he seem in any more pain? Is his fussing exactly the same since being on it? Have you noticed any changes at all? Good or bad?
How long have you been dairy and soy free? If it is food that is bothering him, it can take a while before the offending proteins leave your system. Just a thought.
Hang in there…I remember where you are at and I feel for you!
January 14, 2008 at 10:57 pm #47362AnonymousInactiveHe’s on 8mg 3x daily. The Dr didn’t really know what he was doing, so I just went off the MARCI site. He’s 15lb and 5 months
Seems I’ve been dairy free forever, but really maybe only a week cause I didn’t catch the dairy in bread etc. Haven’t seen an improvement on that at all.As for he is any better, it’s so hard to tell. He’s not sleeping during the day much 20mins here and there, 45 if i’m lucky so some of it is overtiredness, which seems to make the reflux worse. I was also giving it by syringe for the first week and a bit, and I think he was spitting out a lot of it. Hard to tell how much.AAAAHHHHHH, I think I’m slowing (or rapidly) going insane. Thank goodness he sleeps in 3 hrs bursts at night, I’d be a wreck if he didn’tmkoontz2008-01-14 23:02:05

You may already be doing this, but you have to make sure you are giving the zantac 4 hrs apart from the zegerid. If your giving them any closer than that it makes the zegerid inaffective. Tell me if I’m wrong on that ladies. I know that is the case for prevacid and prilosec and am almost positive it is true of zegerid too. As for the zegerid I think and I could be wrong, but I think it took 14 days or more to see improvement for us. However my ds never slept well even though he was medicated correctly. His naps were just lilke your ds’s. Honeslty bfing saved me so many sleepless nights. At 5 months he was having tremours due to his lack of sleep. He was getting a max of 5 hrs in a 24 hr period. So, I eventually let him stay latched on all night long. Finally we got some sleep. At first I thought there was not way I could sleep with him latched on and nursing all night long, but I slept so well. I only had to wake to switch him to the other side and then we both fell fast asleep.
About your husband, he sounds exactly like mine. It took my ds breaking out in exzema about 3 times after me eating dairy and beef for my husband to believe me too. He also hated how much the zegerid cost, but definanlty loved that our ds stopped crying all the time. As for cost zegerid is chepear at Sams or costo I mean a lot cheaper. Also you can print off the coupon and take that too. Not all pharmices will take it though.Keep us posted.January 18, 2008 at 10:20 am #47449AnonymousInactiveSo Iwas hoping to post that everything was better, but I’m just not sure. Isen has a cold right now – at least I think it’s a cold and not reflux much worse (how do you tell???). so we are back to waking from coughing etc. It’s just not easy this whole baby thing. But I think his general mood is better, he maybe seems a bit happier, except when he’s overtired cause he’s not getting enough sleep cause he’s waking himself up etc etc.
