So Nicholas sees the ped this week for his 2 month well baby. How do I explain to this woman that I have been giving him a higher dose of Prevacid (marci kids) than she prescribed? She’s a GREAT doc, but if I were her, I’d probably be mad as hell that some mom thought she knew more than me. I don’t think the med is working for him and don’t want her to just up the dose to what I’m already giving him. Also, do most peds agree with giving babies the cherry supreme mylanta? I’ve been giving this to him at night and when the reflux flares up. Should I tell her? We’ve tried Zantac and Prevacid soluabs 1/2 of a 15 mg tab 3x day. What else is there I can ask her about?

I’m not sure what she prescribed vs. what you’re giving. Some moms have said that they “accidentally” gave too much one day, and then saw it worked, so they continued. In your case, since it’s not working, it’s kind of different. What are you hoping of getting out of the appointment?…. a different med, a different formula? I’m wondering if you should give neocate a try. I’m not sure how long he’s been on the new meds/formula, but if it’s been a while and he’s been on a good dose of meds without improvement, it might be something to consider. I might also try testing if you haven’t done that yet, namely an endoscopy. Good luck.

you’ve been giving the prevacid on an empty stomach?

have you been giving zantac, too? if you have any, you might try giving it as well, spaced 4 hrs apart from the prevacid dose, at 10mgs per kilo

We told the doctor that we’d accidentally both given meds one evening and we noticed a difference, so we tried it again to see if it continued to work.

I have been giving prevacid at least 30 min before meals, as well as the Reglan. These two are okay to be taken at the same time right?
