I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical when I bought the thing. I think Sophia went in it twice the first two weeks we had it. But, 2 weeks ago today I was shamed in to using it when our friends came to visit and were shocked to find out we were sleeping with the baby in our arms. Or, not really sleeping, but taking turns staying awake, holding a sleeping baby.
I’m pleased to report that she has now slept in this sling/wedge contraption for two weeks and LOVES it. We are sleeping from about 8:30pm to 4am, waking up to feed and then sleeping until 7:30/8:00am. I call that sleeping through the night if you ask me!!
Granted, the wedge is in our bed, and I am (gasp) sleeping in the same bed with my baby. I’ve already heard about what a bad parent I am from my pediatrician, and I could care less. My baby is sleeping!! And so happy!! 🙂
For anyone who is thinking about buying a tucker sling, and not sure if it will work, I say give it a try! I would have never thought Sophia would go for it but she did and it is sooo much better in our home now at night.
Although the medication is a different story…

It’s so common to co-sleep at that age. We did it with my first until she was around 3 months, and then moved her to her crib without any problems. Since she’s already used to her tucker wedge, I don’t forsee you having problems just transporting the wedge when the time comes. Don’t let people make you feel like you’re doing the wrong thing! With my non-refluxer, I always used to judge people who slept with their babies in their rooms or beds. Then I was given a dose of reality when Hailey came along. So do what’s right for you! And Hurray on catching some zzzzzzs!

She is pretty darn safe up on the sling, no chance of you putting the covers over her. Shoot Cooper sleeps with us some mornings when I need more sleep and he is being really restless and I just put him in between dh and I and I scoot down really far in the bed since I like to have my entire body covered except for my face so that I don’t cover him up… so don’t you worry. You do what you gotta do to get sleep!!

I did the half-sleeping, baby on my chest or in my arms thing for many weeks before finally managing to contrive a propped-up on pillows sleeping arrangement (next to me in bed) for my daughter too! And we slept that way for many months. You do what you need to do to survive!!!
I’m so happy the tucker sling is working well for your daughter!! Enjoy the little bit of continuous sleep you are both getting!!October 29, 2007 at 4:02 pm #44747hellbenntKeymasteryay for sleep!
keep with the co-sleeping! you do what you gotta do!!!!October 30, 2007 at 9:19 pm #44808AnonymousInactiveThat’s great! The sling has been a blessing to us too… in fact Bryce still sleeps in it. 🙂
November 6, 2007 at 2:38 pm #45097AnonymousInactiveI’ve debated on buying the Tucker sling. My little girl is still in her bassinet and my husband devised a way to elevate it and we stuff matress padding (cut up and taped to fit) around her – not in front of her face or anywhere that could danger her. We also have a strap across the front so she can’t fall out. It’s on the floor right next to me in bed and I wake up almost every hour checking on her. She’s sleeping really well in it (last night from 5:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.) and she’s started napping every few hours which she never used to do. My fear is she is going to outgrow it before she outgrows the reflux issues.
I hate to spend lots of money on the Tucker sling if she only uses it a month or two. What are others doing for cribs??? How are you elevating the mattress and keeping the baby positioned from sliding down? -
