At least 95% of the time that I put Riley in his car seat—-he spits up. And we aren’t talking a little bit of spit up. I’m getting so frustrated. You put clothes on him to go somewhere and you’re right back in the house to put new (dry) clothes on him. You get to the place where you want to go and you have to change him again. Oh, and that’s not even the worst part—-cleaning the car seat is horrible. It takes forever to get it clean and dry. And, it’s not ideal to have to throw it in the washing machine everyday. I need help!!!!
Does anybody else have this problem??? Does anybody have any ideas to help???

You can put one horizontal and then one verticle to go around the straps…then one hanging over the edge on the other side of the buckle between the legs. Just make sure they hang over the edge and maybe tuck them in if you can somehow. It requires a little practice to get it quick and keep it covered but it has worked pretty good for me for the most part. I also do this in his swing.

Hailey used to hate her car seat and would vomit something fierce everytime we took her in the car. Eventually what I would do was put a bib on her over her clothes, and then put a towel on top of that, and then do up the straps over top. It didn’t solve the problem all the time depending on the trajectory of her vomit, but it did help for the most part. Our car seat though has never recovered- despite many attempts at washing and cleaning it, it still is filthy and smells too (I feel bad because I borrowed it from my sister but what can you do). Good luck!

seat? The infant seat used to make Marisa slump and put WAY too much
pressure on her tummy. We straightened her out some by folding a cloth
diaper and putting it under her butt but still not great. However, we
recently switched to her convertible seat (Britax Roundabout) and she’s
MUCH more comfy.February 1, 2006 at 8:52 am #437AnonymousInactiveHis carseat is a Britax Wizard and it’s funny because he never really spit up in his carrier carseat. And, it’s just recently that he started spitting up so much in this one. As far as I know he doesn’t mind being in his carseat. I know for a fact that we can only ride for a max of 2 hours at a time. Once he hits that 2 hour mark he wants to be out so he can crawl and walk and play.
If it is positioning of the seat, I think that once we are able to turn it around he’ll be more comfortable. BUT, with the way it’s going it could be a while before he hits 20 pounds and over.
I’ve thought about trying to make some sort of cover up for him and the seat.

February 1, 2006 at 10:05 am #448AnonymousInactiveCan you recline the seat any further . ..maybe adjust the positioning of it – mine has a recline switch. Sounds like its the wrong angle for him and its just putting too much pressure on his tummy. Have you tried making sure his belly isn’t full before a ride. . .kind of a tough one but maybe thats part of the issue too?
February 2, 2006 at 6:03 pm #543AnonymousInactiveOur doctor told us that the car seat was the worst place to put our son. He said to avoid it as much as possible. The position of the seat irritates the reflux. The doctor also told us to get one of those bouncy seats that are on a 45 degree angel. His feet are pushed up. It worked miracles. Our son has sever reflux and that seat was a God sent. So avoid the car seat as much as you can..it worked for us.
Our son is now almost 2 and a half and still has not out grown it and his newborn sister now has it. I understand what you are going through I have 2 of them!
