After 5 miserable infections, 3 months of fluids in one ear and contant night waking, we finally are getting tubes. The date is set for August 22nd. We are tired of seeing so many doctors, but at least we are geting some where.
August 2, 2007 at 3:36 pm #40359AnonymousInactiveGood news! It was an absolute miracle for us! Sarah was a DIFFERENT child after tubes! She was already happy after good dose of PPI and alimentum…tubes just made her giddy ALL THE TIME! SOOOO WORTH IT! Good luck!!!!
August 2, 2007 at 3:43 pm #40362AnonymousInactiveLeo, I’m so happy for you guys. Hopefully they will give her and you a break from those yucky ear infections. Too bad they couldn’t do the tubes and the endoscopy all at once so she wouldn’t have to go through two separate procedures The endoscopy was a piece of cake for us though so I wouldn’t worry about it. Course that’s easy for me to say! I didn’t have it done to me!
August 2, 2007 at 3:51 pm #40368AnonymousInactiveClaire,
i can’t tell you how hard we tried and fought to get the tubes done at the same time, but we have an ent that is not part of the hospital where we are having the endosopy done (two hours away) at and they weren’t very helpful when he tried dto call and ask for it to be done at the same time. I tried schuduling an appointment with an ENT at the same hospital in hopes that he would do it at the same time, but the soonest he would see us was August 27th. I am bumped, but i got no choice. My poor baby. The good thing is that our ENT told us she would not be getting very much anesthesia (2-3 minutes max) b/c the procedure is not very long. W’ll see how it goes.Iam so glad for your clear scope though. that is a big relief indeed. i can’t wait to see what’s going on with my little one insides.August 2, 2007 at 4:20 pm #40375AnonymousInactiveLeo, Best of luck with the tubes and the endoscopy. I will say a prayer for little cutie Kendra. Keep us posted.
August 2, 2007 at 4:31 pm #40379AnonymousInactiveFinally, good for you! I know your frustrations as I wanted tubes forever! It has been the answer to at least some of our sleeping problems! Hoping the best for you too!!!!
August 2, 2007 at 7:13 pm #40397AnonymousInactiveOh Leo, well at least you tried!!! Kendra’s a lucky babe to have a mamma like you!!!!! Here’s hoping for a clear scope with her too!!!
August 2, 2007 at 9:54 pm #40405AnonymousInactiveThat’s great! I’m glad Kendra will be able to get tubes now, and I pray they make a difference for her. They sure helped Bryce!
August 2, 2007 at 11:08 pm #40414AnonymousInactiveGood luck on the tube surgery and the endoscopy. I hope all goes well with both. Please keep us posted.
August 3, 2007 at 7:09 am #40423AnonymousInactiveI love the tubes… it’s the best club I’ve ever belonged to! No more ear infections…
August 3, 2007 at 2:25 pm #40446AnonymousInactiveThank you everyone for the support. I am glad to hear good things about them, kendra (and mommy) could really use a break soon.
August 4, 2007 at 2:48 pm #40482AnonymousInactiveI can’t belive this. kendra had a miserable day yesterday (it looked like a cold, runny nose, fevriesh, coughping a bit. nausea, thowring up) and the morning was going the same way, so i took her to her ped urgent clinic today. well she has and ear infection what??? we just got over one 3 days ago.. I l left with Omnicef. I just can’t get over this. how you can ge another infection that fast? the ear tubes placement date is so far way still.
ok i just needed to whine a little.August 4, 2007 at 4:18 pm #40486AnonymousInactiveOH NO!! I HATE EAR INFECTIONS, and I’m so sorry that you have to go through yet another one. How disappointing, and that surgery date must seem like eons away. There’s no doubt though that she needs those tubes, and just think about how much happier she will be with them! I will pray that this infection gets cleared up ASAP.
Could you call the ENT and let them know she has another infection and ask to get the surgery moved up??? A long shot, but maybe??August 5, 2007 at 8:01 am #40501AnonymousInactiveOh no!… I wonder if the last ear infection ever fully cleared. Poor girl.
August 5, 2007 at 11:44 am #40510AnonymousInactiveLori, yes the last ear infection cleared up b/c we followed 10 days later. She had fluids in one ear, but the infection was gone. I just can’t believe it. she is starting to feel better today. of course the antibiotics isnot kidding around.
