Well girls….and guys,
I was hesitant to write or post anything at first b/c I didn’t want to jinx anything(little superstitious) but I think we’re FINALLY doing better. Ever since Kate started the Zegerid(over two weeks) and I started nursing lying down, not kidding, no terribe excruciating feeds! It’s been incredible. It’s like I’m discovering the amazing joy of nursing for the first time. You know, the smiles, cooing, falling asleep nursing! All the things you think about when you’re pregnant and bursting with anticipation thinking of what it will be like to experience that feeling of feeding your baby. I don’t mean to gush, BUT I CAN’T HELP IT!!! She doesn’t cry or whimper anymore, it’s actually a happy time I can’t stop praising God for this incredible gift!I also discovered the medibottle which is the best invention in the world. To anyone who has to drug up their baby ALL the time like I do and has a baby that gags and screams at the sight of the syringe, the medibottle is awesome. (I was giving Kate her meds in a normal bottle with bm but the other day she decided that was NOT going to fly anymore)It’s a syringe that is inside a funky looking bottle. I literally can give Kate a med dose in under a minute. It used to take at least five and it included choking, gagging, gulping air. Awful, awful, awful. Wow, that was a tangent.Anyway, you all are amazing. I know this rollercoaster ride we’re on will have many more dips and crazy turns in it but after two, almost three months of heartbreaking feeds full to the brim with tears, I feel like the luckiest mommy to be able to feed my sweet baby peacefully. We’re just bf right now and she hardly gulps air at all anymore. I think the bottle made it worse for her. We also saw the pulmonologist and they said Kate looked great and gave me the go ahead to keep bf and it’s been wonderful.Thank you, thank you, thank you all of you who have encouraged me to stick it out despite how heartwrenching it has been and for all the kind words of support and understanding If I could reach into my computer to you all I would come at full speed at all of you with the biggest hug ever. You all are a gift and bless you, bless you, bless you for being there when I needed you!July 7, 2007 at 8:45 pm #38788AnonymousInactiveOh, Claire, that is SUCH WONDERFUL NEWS!!! I’m so thrilled for you, and happy that you are finally getting to enjoy your little one. Hopefully this is only the beginning of better and better times to come.

I think she’s pretty beautiful too. You guys are great and here’s to continued health, comfort, and happiness to all of our precious babies!Oh, Laura YES I am pretty much eating whatever except for obvious dairy stuff(milk, yoghurtetc…)only b/c I’m neurotic and it makes me feel better for some strange reason. All else is fair game so I’m crossing my fingers the floor doesn’t give out under meJuly 8, 2007 at 6:05 pm #38848AnonymousInactiveWONDERFUL!!! You deserve some good days!!! I never heard of the medibottle before. We did the syringe once and it was awful so I took a bottle nipple and put her medication in that and we have done that since. -
