hi everyone,
new ped. wants shane back on soy for one month to see if sleep will impove.anyhow.. he has had mucousy gross diapers.. BUT around the same time we started it .. he also came down with a cold.can it be the cold? or am i too quick to assume its the soy..?thanks!July 3, 2007 at 11:02 pm #38532AnonymousInactiveHmm, I’ve never heard of a cold causing a mucousy diaper…but that doesn’t mean it can’t happen. I hope it’s not the soy! Sorry I can’t be of more help…good luck!

I would mention it to the doc and just see what they say. I think it is probably from the soy.

i talk to everyone else in my fam. about this including my mom and dh…and they are like soo whats wrong w/ a little mucous, please dont change him again… ! stuff like that makes me feel crazy…ya know?anyways.. if anyone else knows if this can be related to a cold/runny nose.. please let me know.. it’ll save me a phone call ;)thanks!!!July 4, 2007 at 6:47 pm #38569hellbenntKeymasterLoose or mucousy bowel movements are quite common during teething or with a cold or runny nose. This is of no concern as long there is no more than four stools within 24 hours and your baby maintains good health.

July 5, 2007 at 12:16 am #38584AnonymousInactiveLauren: I have a new twist on things. I hope he is doing so great and you can just disregard this!
This is my thought: If the soy is now causing problems, those problems can SEEM like he has a cold. That is what would happen with Carson. I would think – great, we now have something else twisted in this mess, but when I talked to our GI Spec, and we started sorting things out, some foods that he reacted to actually caused him to have *cold symptoms* – runny/stuffy nose, drainage down his throat, etc. If you are continuing the soy, if he doesn’t *get over* this cold and it turns to a sinus infection (my past story), then you go to an antibiotic and get everything cleared up but the cold just doesn’t go away, it is probably the soy. If you stop the soy and everything clears up, you know it was the soy.It is so terrible to keep switching formulas but it may take this to figure it all out. I am sorry you are dealing with negative comments. You are only trying to do what is best for your little one. The mucuosy poos definately mean that things inside are not quite right. How would they feel if they had mucuousy poos for days!!! Keep your chin up! Mom knows best!!! I figure God gave these little puzzles to us because he knew we were strong enough to handle it and smart enough to figure it out. You are doing a great job!I hope Shane is doing better as we speak!!July 5, 2007 at 5:55 pm #38646AnonymousInactivethank you brenda.. i really appreciate your post.
i can totally see where you are coming from.. BUT guess what?! shane got the cold a day before we started the soy!! 🙂 thank GOD! i’ll keep you guys posted on how it goes.. i am very curious to see as well..thanks again!! and i do agree with your theory.. your a smart mama! 😉July 5, 2007 at 7:17 pm #38652AnonymousInactiveLauren: So glad he showed the cold symptoms before you started the soy!!! Too many variables and you can’t pinpoint anything. That would be great if he could have soy – then he could have the soy ice cream, soy cheese, soy everything!
July 6, 2007 at 1:39 pm #38703AnonymousInactiveSeth had a couple of green, mucousy diapers last week and now has a terrible cold (since Tuesday or so). His DCP once told me sometimes this will be a sign of a virus to come. It was a bit alarming though and I did try to think if he had ate anything different at the time but he has not had anything that I could think of. Also, this is TMI but telling you to make you feel better, I also got the yukky poos and the sniffles/drainage so I definitely know now it was the virus. Hope he feels better soon!
